Our Mission

Afromeals Foundation is devoted to empowering underserved populations through culinary skills and food education. Our mission is to provide cooking classes and nutritional education to low-income communities, women in group homes, battered women, immigrants, children aging out of foster care, and widowers. By fostering self-sufficiency and promoting healthy eating habits, we aim to improve health outcomes and enhance the quality of life for our participants.

Our Programs

2026 Cooking Classes & Nutrition Programs

Our 2026 programs include specialized cooking classes and nutrition education serving diverse communities across Cincinnati, Dayton, and Richmond, Indiana.

    Kooking with Kings (February)

    A special one-time hands-on cooking and nutrition program for boys and young men, scheduled to take place between February and March. Participants will learn foundational cooking skills, nutrition basics, and cultural food traditions while building confidence, leadership, and life skills through food.

    Monthly Community Cooking Classes with Miami Valley Meals (Dayton)

    In partnership with Miami Valley Meals, Afromeals will host monthly culturally relevant cooking classes for Dayton communities. These classes focus on preparing nutritious, affordable meals rooted in African and Caribbean food traditions, while also providing nutrition education, ingredient distribution, and shared community meals.

    Monthly Youth Cooking Classes (Cincinnati & Dayton)

    Ongoing monthly youth cooking classes serving children and teens in both the Cincinnati and Dayton areas. These hands-on classes introduce young participants to basic cooking skills, nutrition education, kitchen safety, and culturally relevant recipes while encouraging creativity, confidence, and healthy eating habits.

    Monthly Cooking Classes for Low-Income Women (Richmond, Indiana)

    Monthly hands-on cooking and nutrition classes designed to support low-income women in the Richmond, Indiana community. Classes focus on preparing affordable, nourishing meals, improving food confidence, and sharing culturally relevant recipes that promote health, dignity, and community connection. Participants may receive take-home ingredients and recipes.

    Monthly Cooking Classes for Low-Income Families (Cincinnati & Dayton)

    Ongoing monthly cooking and nutrition classes for low-income families in Cincinnati and Dayton. These family-centered classes focus on preparing healthy, budget-friendly meals using culturally relevant ingredients, while strengthening family bonds, food confidence, and access to nutrition education. Select classes may include take-home ingredients and meal resources.

Food Distribution & Community Events

Beyond cooking classes, we provide ongoing food box distribution and host community events to expand access to culturally relevant meals and resources.

    Cooking Classes for Foster Care Families

    Ongoing family-centered cooking classes designed specifically for foster care families. These sessions create a supportive environment for families to cook together, learn practical meal preparation skills, and explore culturally relevant meals that encourage health, connection, and stability. Select classes may include take-home ingredients and recipes.

    Ongoing Culturally Relevant Food & Ingredient Box Distribution

    Afromeals Foundation will provide ongoing distribution of culturally relevant food and ingredient boxes to underserved individuals and families across the Cincinnati and Dayton regions. Boxes are designed to support healthy home cooking and include staple ingredients, culturally familiar foods, and simple recipes.

    Afromeals Foundation Fundraising Event (First Week of April)

    Afromeals Foundation will host a fundraising event during the first week of April to support our community food access and nutrition education programs. The event will bring together community members, partners, and supporters to celebrate culturally relevant food, share our impact, and raise funds to expand programming across Cincinnati and Dayton.
